To our donors, community partners and friends,
Earlier this year we were extremely proud to launch a new identity for the Foundation. Our name change to the “Children’s Aid Foundation of Ottawa” brings clarity to the important services the Foundation provides to the children in our community and a better understanding of the direct relationship between the Foundation and the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa.
The Foundation’s mission is to inspire and empower children and young adults supported by the CAS of Ottawa by providing enrichment and education opportunities, in partnership with the community through support, sponsorship and charitable giving.
In 2010, thanks to our generous donors and community partners, the Foundation was able to disburse a total of $221,100 to help improve the lives of children at risk. The Foundation provided:
• $109,000 in bursaries to 46 young adults looking to change their life with a post-secondary education
• 15 children received ongoing tutoring every month to improve their literacy and math skills to help them succeed in school
• Over 60 children were provided with the opportunity to participate in sports, recreational and cultural activities
• Over 20 children and families were provided with assistance to purchase essential items such as clothing and furniture
In a letter to the Foundation one bursary recipient wrote, “You have given me so much hope. I no longer feel alone.” The Foundation looks forward to building upon our positive track record, and to a promising future of supporting child welfare in our community.
